Annual SUPER BOWL XLVI throwdown on Feb. 5 from 11 a.m. to game time in the parking lot at Divine Fish House in the Inlet. Music, pet adoptions and terrific BBQ when Danny's BBQ challenges Redbone's BBQ of Murrells Inlet. Throwdown judged by noted local chefs. $7 a plate with all proceeds benefitting only the animals at the 100% volunteer COASTAL ANIMAL RESCUE. Mercy HONORS Pinning Ceremony & Veterans Services Fair
Please join Mercy Care and Inlet Square Mall in largest ever low-country Mercy HONORS pinning ceremony and Veterans Services Far at Inlet Square Mall in Murrells Inlet. This ceremony offers thanks to the men and women who have defended our freedom and protected our nation. The pinning will start at 1pm and will be accompanied by music from the St. James High School Marching Band. This event is for all U.S. Veterans. Lost at Sea Memorial Names Submission Due Date
Families and friends of loved ones who have been lost at sea are invited to submit names for inscription on the monument. The Lost at Sea Memorial ceremony is scheduled in April. Names must be submitted by the 2012 deadline to be included in this year's ceremony. Murrells Inlet 2020 Annual Chowder Talk
Join Murrells Inlet 2020 at its Annual Community Chowder Talk to learn about what is happening in the Inlet. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at Inlet Affairs Banquet & Catering (4024 Hwy 17 Business,across from Drunken Jack's Restaurant). Complimentary chowder and beverages will be served at 6:30 pm. The meeting begins promptly at 7:00 pm. MI2020 will provide an update on its projects and programs, and award the 2011 Volunteer of the Year and Golden Oyster Awards. Mark Hoeweler, Assistant Executive Director, of the Waccamaw REgional Council of Governments will provide an update on planned road improvements for the area. Huntington Beach State Park Atalaya's 3-in-1 Day
Every year on March 10th at the Atalaya Castle in Huntington Beach State Park (16148 Ocean Hwy in Murrells Inlet), the Friends of Huntington Beach State Park host a fundraiser to celebrate this special day that honors the birthdays of both Anna Hyatt Huntington and Archer Huntington, as well as their wedding anniversary. A special "wedding" cake and refreshments will be served at Atalaya, the Huntington's former winter home. Atalaya is a National Historic Landmark. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Huntington Beach State Park. Tickets are $10/person (16 & older). Park admission is required. Huntington Beach State Park South Strand Wildlife & History Day

7th Annual Race for the Inlet
Lace up those sneakers for some early Saturday morning exercise as you run or walk through the marshfront, oak-shaded streets of Murrells Inlet. The event features the 5K Walk and Run, with optional chip timing. NEW IN 2012: we have added an 8K chip- timed run and a 5K chip-timed Stroller Run.
All events start and end at Morse Park Landing on Highway 17 Business (next to the Hot Fish Club) in Murrells Inlet. All events begin at 8 am. Participants can run or walk through Murrells Inlet on the USATF certified courses. Race timing provided by Race Management Systems. It is a fun event suitable for all ages and skill levels.
Prizes will be awarded based on chip timings to the overall male and female 5K and 8K winners and the top male and female 5K and 8K winners in each of the age groups. A prize will also be awarded to the overall winner in the 5K Stroller Run. You must register for a chip to qualify for prizes.
Registration fees & deadlines:
- Fees through March 7 are as follows: 5K Walk or Run - no chip = $15. 8K Run with chip, 5K Stroller Run with Chip & 5K Walk or Run with chip = $20. Register by March 7th to be guaranteed a t-shirt.
- Fees March 8 - 22 (noon): 5K Walk or Run - no chip = $20. 8K Run with chip, 5K Stroller Run with chip & 5K Walk or Run with chip = $25.
- Registration closes at noon on March 22, and will reopen at packet pick up on March 23 at 4pm.
- Fees March 23 - 24: 5K Walk or Run - no chip = $25. 8K Run with chip, 5K Stroller Run with Chip & 5K Walk or Run with chip = $30.
- Register by March 7, 2012 to save money and be guaranteed a t-shirt.
Packet pick-up will be held on Friday, March 23 at the Murrells Inlet 2020 office (4124-B Hwy 17) between 4pm – 7 pm. Packets can also be picked up on race day (7am - 8am) at Morse Park Landing.

2012 Ride for the Inlet
Choose one of three out-&-back routes through the back roads of rural Horry County. The 8-mile leads you down oak-shaded back roads to Wacca Wache Marina. The 26- mile heads out to Enterprise Boat Landing, and the Century continues on from the Landing to Carolina Forest and back.

Lost at Sea Annual Memorial Ceremony
The ceremony will be held at Morse Park Landing (next to the Hot Fish Club) on Hwy 17 Business in Murrells Inlet. The Lost at Sea Memorial was erected in 2006 to pay tribute to all those who lost their lives at sea and were never found. The Memorial, located at Morse Park Landing, was established by the family of Johnny Brown, a 38-year old Murrells Inlet commercial fisherman who was lost at sea in 2005. All the people, whose names are etched on the monument, will be remembered at the ceremony. Murrells Inlet 2020 MarshWalk Masters
Put on your knickers and putt yourself through the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk stopping at every restaurant along the way. Play the hole at each of the nine stops on the tour and the lowest score wins! $500 cash first place prize for the best score. Prizes will also be awarded for 2nd and 3rd places and for the best dressed golfer. Enjoy the beautiful Marshwalk views and enjoy drinks and appetizers while you play. 21st Annual Spring Tide - A Day for the Inlet
Twenty-one years and going strong, Spring Tide is South Carolina’s biggest and longest-running one-day community clean-up. Join in to clean up the creek and streets of Murrells Inlet. The day begins with an invocation at 9:45 am at Morse Park Landing (next to the Hot Fish Club) in Murrells Inlet. Volunteers can check in at the Hot Fish Club to receive street assignments for clean-up. Workers head out at 10:00 am to start picking up the trash. Everyone is invited back to the Hot Fish Club at 1:00 pm for the "Best Damn Chowder Cook-off" and light-hearted festivities to celebrate our hard work. Over twenty restaurant chowders will be available and the chowder is free to all our workers. Bring your boats, boots, bug spray, glove and your love of the Inlet. MICT presents "Black Tie"
The Murrells Inlet Community Theater (MICT), located at the Community Center on Murrells Inlet Road, is presenting "Black Tie" by A.R. Gurney. This generation-gap comedy takes place in the hours before a problematic wedding rehearsal dinner. The father of the groom is struggling to devise the perfect toast to celebrate his soon-to-be-married son. Cultures clash when a surprise guest is announced, threatening to throw convention out the window. The audience will find "Black Tie" a charming, funny and moving play. 7th Annual Makai Luau
The 7th Annual Makai Luau, a Grand Strand tradition, will be held June 9th, 2012 at the Hot Fish Club located in beautiful Murrells Inlet, SC. The ticket only benefit begins at 6 p.m. on the lawn of the Hot Fish Club and will feature live music, a fire and hula show from Chief Kamu, a traditional luau buffet, beer and wine beverages, as well as the wildly popular Surfers Punch. There will be prizes for the Ugliest Hawaiian Shirt contest, a Best Lei contest, and more. All proceeds from this event fund the projects of the Grand Strand Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a grassroots, non-profit, environmental organization that works to protect our oceans, waves, and beaches. Tickets prices will be forthcoming per couple and will be on sale at area surf shops, through a local Surfrider member, or by visiting Surfrider's website www.surfridergrandstrand.org.

Murrells Inlet 4th of July Boat Parade & Fireworks Display
Don't miss this annual Inlet patriotic tradition! The 29th Annual July 4th Boat Parade kicks off at high tide from Garden City Point. This year's parade theme will be announced later this Spring. The parade will head over to the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk and then follow the Murrells Inlet shoreline down to the Hot Fish Club. Best public viewing points are the Marshwalk, Belin Methodist Church, Nance's Restaurant, Captain Pooh's Restaurant and the Hot Fish Club. To register to be in the boat parade, go to Booty's Outdoors, Garden City Reality, or Captain Dick's June 15th through July 3rd. You can register on July 4th with the committee boat which will be in the water at the Garden City Point at 9am that day. The Belin United Methodist Boy Scout Troop 396 will be selling the annual Boat Parade t-shirts at Booty's Outdoors, Garden City Realty and Conway National Bank in Murrells Inlet. The Murrells Inlet Marshwalk restaurants will light up the skies on the 4th of July with a spectacular fireworks display. The show, which is shot off from the end of the Veterans Pier, is scheduled to start at 10:00 pm. Spectators can view the display from the many vantage points off the marsh shoreline, including the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk, Belin Methodist Church, Morse Park Landing next to the Hot Fish Club and the Marlin Quay Marina area. Salute from the Shore Military Flyover
Turn your eyes to the eastern sky on the Fourth of July to wave to the F-16s of the 77th Fighter Squadron. "The Gamblers" of the 20th Fighter Wing stationed at Shaw Air Force Base will conduct a flyover of the South Carolina Coast. Listen to the sound of freedom as the F-16s roar along our shoreline. Spectators are urged to wear and wave the red, white and blue along the beaches during the flyover. The flyover, which is organized by the non-profit organization, Salute from the Shore, and the Town of Pawleys Island, is a tribute to our Armed Forces deployed around the world. Show your support! Murrells Inlet/Garden City Fire Department Open House
The MI/GC Fire Department celebrates Fire Prevention Week with the community by hosting their annual open house. Kids (and kids at heart) will be able to check out the fire trucks, and take their turns at holding the fire hose. There will be life-saving and rescue demos, and educational displays, bounce house and balloons for the kids, free hot dogs and beverages. Guaranteed a fun and educational time for the children!

Surfrider Lip-Rippin' Chilympics Chili Cook-off
The 13th Annual Lip-Rippin’ Chilympics Chili Cook-Off will be held on Sunday, October 14th, from noon to 6:00 p.m. at Spuds Waterfront Dining in Murrells Inlet. This annual chili competition will feature categories such as Best Overall, Best Restaurant, People’s Choice, Most Original, Best Theme, Best Use of South Carolina Ingredients, and Hottest Chili. There will be a fabulous line-up of live bands. And for the kids, there will be food, soft drinks, face painting, and inflatables, as well as displays from local environmental non-profits, businesses, and artists for the whole family. Cash prizes go to all winners and will be awarded to all first and second place entries in each category. In addition, there will be one Best Overall and one Best Restaurant. All proceeds from the Lip-Rippin’ Chilympics Chili Cook-Off will be used for projects of the Grand Strand Surfrider Foundation, an all-volunteer, 501 c 3 non-profit serving the Grand Strand since 1998. This annual creek-front tradition is a favorite for locals and visitors. Oyster-eaters belly up to the tables for an all-you-can-eat afternoon feast of steamed oysters. And you can bet...you will get your belly-fully of oysters that afternoon. Oysters will be served 11:30 pm - 2:30 pm. Annual Christmas Parade - Boats & Floats for the Kids
Get in the holiday spirit with the Annual Community Christmas Parade beginning at 3:00 pm! Come and enjoy the fun as the Murrells Inlet Christmas Parade starts at Wilcox Avenue (Booty's) and marches down Business 17 with marching bands, beauty queens, dogs, cycles, and lots and lots of goodies for the kids! Immediately following the parade, meet at Morse Landing Park (next to Hot Fish Club) for the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Santa Claus will visit with the children at the park. The Christmas tree will be lit and the Boy Scouts will light a bonfire to take the nip out of the air. Christmas music will entertain the crowd at the park. Don't miss out. Free for all!
